Liberia is on the west coast of Africa and located in the heart of the Guinea Forest, which stretches from Guinea to Cameroon. The Upper Guinean Ecosystem is an expanse of rainforest boasting a large number of rare plant and animal species, and is considered part of a West African Hotspot. Only ten percent of the original forest ecosystem survives today, of which approximately 40% lies in Liberia – making its protection a matter of major global conservation priority. These precious forests are highly threatened as they provide an abundant resource for those seeking to improve their economic prospects.
The EPA works to protect and conserve all land in Liberia. This section of the website lists all projects, past and present, being conducted by the Environmental Protection Agency.
